About us
Mavam Supported Housing provides bespoke support designed to meet people’s needs. Our support is provided in a safe environment for people living with mental health distress, learning disabilities and other complex issues, our goal is to help people to live an independent life as possible. We provide several 24hr supported housing projects in Ipswich, Stowmarket, Sudbury and Lowestoft with a member of staff sleeping in at night to respond to emergencies. Many of our rooms have their own bathrooms, whilst some projects contain self-contained flats.
Our Philosophy
Mavam Supported Housing believes in working with an individual’s strengths to develop daily living skills which will improve their quality of life and may give them the confidence to live independently within the community once again.
Working in a structured way, we look to develop a service user’s self-reliance, understanding and self-belief so that they may reach their goals and reclaim their autonomy.
Support
We offer a range of support packages which are based on an individual’s need.
All staff undertake a comprehensive training programme which includes: Medication, Privacy, Dignity and Safe Caring, Safeguarding, Risk Assessment, Key-working, Breakaway & De-escalation, Communication, Active Support, Substance Misuse, Food Safety, Fire Safety, COSHH and Manual Handling
Many staff work towards a professional qualification such as an NVQ.
Service user profile
We support people who have complex needs. People who have been in hospital or other institutional care and have lost their confidence or ability to cope with everyday living. People who have become socially isolated and would benefit from peer support as well as from professional staff. Young people living on their own for the first time after leaving care and people who have had a cycle of homelessness due to chaotic living.
